Storage Solutions Part 2: Make Table Setting a Breeze
We know how important the functionality of a space can be. Whether you are setting your table for a family dinner or meal prepping for the week, you want everything to be in an easy-to-reach area. Last week, we talked about how to meal prep for success using five simple kitchen accessories. This week, we are showing you four must-have accessories to make setting your table fun (or as fun as table setting can be).
Cutlery Divider
It does not take much for kitchen drawers to become disheveled. It seems to be the easiest thing to just throw something in a drawer, close it and completely forget that it even exists. It may be silly to think that unorganized utensils can cause so much stress in a kitchen, but just think about it. If you are wanting to set the table quickly, do you really want to take the time to dig through the drawer, just to find a simple knife? Probably not. A cutlery divider like this one from Rev-A-Shelf is a simple solution. It is easy to use and can be cut to fit any sized drawer in your kitchen. Gone are the days where you have to dig through an entire drawer just to find one knife. It will make table setting a breeze for you and your family!
Roll-Out Trays
We are all about making the kitchen flow as seamlessly as possible, which is why we are obsessed with these roll-out trays from Fieldstone Cabinetry. These trays make it easy to find everything in one place. We recommend organizing your trays like the way it is organized in the above photo. Keep your bowls and plates organized in the trays and then organize your napkins and napkin holders in a drawer either above or near the trays. You can even use a cutlery divider for the napkins and napkin holders, or just put your utensils in that drawer. At the end of the day, there is not a wrong way to organize these trays and drawer. It just has to work for you and your family.
Peg Drawers
We understand that putting plates and bowls in a roll-out tray may not be the most conventional or most convenient for some people, especially those that are used to putting their plates and bowls on an upper cabinet shelf. One way to create a more organized space when it comes to your bowls and plates is by adding in a pegboard system in your drawers. This helps your drawers look and feel more organized and prevents your dishes from banging against each other and possibly getting damaged. There are a lot of different pegboard systems that you can install, but we really like this one from Rev-A-Shelf.
Knife Organizer
Giving up counter space in a kitchen is hard to do. You do not want your counters to look too crowded or give up any prep space. For some, it might work easier to put items that usually rest on your countertops, inside your drawers. That's where knife organizers come into play. This knife organizer is similar to cutlery dividers in the fact that it ensures that everything has its space in one drawer. Knife blocks tend to look bulky and not very attractive sitting on the counter, so this helps eliminate the problem as well. Plus, if this is placed near the cutlery drawer and the trays mentioned above, it makes setting the table so easy!
